James C. Mackenzie, of Yorktown Heights, died suddenly on Friday, May 19, 2006. He was 56 years old. James is survived by Patricia, his devoted wife and partner of 25 years, his loving sons; Michael, 23 and Ryan 21 and his beloved daughter, Lauren, 19. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Stuart, nephew, Kyle and niece, Jesse and brother, Bruce Mackenzie and nephew, John. He was predeceased by his parents; June and John MacKenzie. James Mackenzie was born March 19, 1950 in White Plains and was educated in Hawthorne. He graduated from Westlake HS in 1968. He earned a BS degree in physical education from Eastern Kentucky in 1972 and his Master's Degree from the University of New England. On August 1, 1981, he married Patricia Kilcullen Mackenzie at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. James was a physical education teacher at Dobbs Ferry High School. He was extremely involved in coaching and refereing in all sports. However, his love was football. Last yeat he had the honor of becoming the head football coach at Dobbs Ferry High School. In his first year he brought the team to the State Championship in Syracuse, NY. James was a devoted husband, father and friend to many. He was admired for his qualities of loyalty, trust and dedication to the many people his life touched. Especially important to Jim's life was his outreach to the youth he coached and mentored. The happiness and pride in helping these young men was his legacy. He will be missed by all who knew him. Calling hours are Sunday from 6 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Dobbs Ferry Touchdown Club.
