James Brian McLeod 2008-01-27 Mr. James (Jim) McLeod, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph‘s Care Group, Hospice Unit on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the age of 81. Jim was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on July 18, 1926. He was raised and educated in Port Arthur, and in 1946 he moved to Red Rock, Ontario where he met the love of his life, Doreen Melbourne. They were married on August 20, 1955. Jim was employed by Domtar Packaging as a pipe-fitter and plumber at their Red Rock Mill until his retirement in 1985. Following their retirement Jim and Doreen returned to Thunder Bay where he resided until his death. Jim was a member of the York Rite and Scottish Rite Masonic bodies and a member of the Mystic Shrine. He was a Past Master of Superior Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 672, G.R.C., Red Rock , Ontario and an affiliated member of Port Arthur Lodge, A.F. and A.M. Number 499 G.R.C., Thunder Bay, as well as a Past Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario. Jim was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and of Knox United Church. Following his retirement, Jim enjoyed curling and gardening until recent years. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Doreen McLeod, a brother, Ronald Pull, his brother-in-law, Douglas Melbourne (Margaret) and sister-in-law, Shirley Pull. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Agatha McLeod, his brothers, Ronald, John and Edward McLeod and David Pull; his sisters, Norma Fitzgerald, Yvonne Wilson, Ernestine Pull and Averill Ward. Funeral services for the late Jim McLeod will be held on Tuesday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. in Knox United Church, 1 Shuniah Street, with Reverend David Silliman officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland Street, where a Masonic Service of Tribute in memory of Jim will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph‘s Foundation, Hospice Unit would be appreciated.
