James Boyce McKenzie, 70, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away June 7, 2008, at his residence in Homosassa. He was born in Bristol, Virginia, and arrived in the area in 1997, coming from West Plains, Missouri. He was a retired owner and truck driver for McKenzie Truck Lines. He was Methodist and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife Minerva (Miller) Thompson McKenzie of Homosassa, whom he married on August 15, 1991. Other survivors include son Jimmy McKenzie of St. Petersburg, Florida, and daughter Rebecca (Jerry) Malynowsky of Odessa, Florida; brothers Richard (Aza) McKenzie of Los Angeles, California, Bob (Peggy) McKenzie and Joe (Peggy) McKenzie, both of Tennessee; sister Ann (Joe) Ritota of North Carolina and 2 grandchildren, Daniel and Lauren; 15 step-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife Peggy Kidd, the mother of Rebecca and Jimmy; 7 step-children: Connie (Fred) Jones, Joyce Reinmuth, Rhonda (Ben) Mowery, Bobby (Nita) Thompson, James (Ella) Thompson all of West Plains, Missouri; Donnie (Dottie) Thompson of Marshall, Missouri, and Tony Thompson of Homosassa, Florida, sister-in-law Joyce McKenzie of North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Nina McKenzie, sister Joyce McKenzie Counts, and a brother Bill McKenzie. Private cremation arrangements by Wilder Funeral Home, Homossasa Springs, Florida. There will be private family services at a later date in Bristol, Tennessee.
