James A. WilliamsJames "Alton" Williams, 75, of Lexington went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ and a devoted husband to Edith Wright Williams for 55 years. Visitation will be Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow immediately at Barnett Cemetery with Justin Roberson officiating. Pallbearers will be Craig Thigpen, Mitchell Collier, Benny Littrell, Ronnie Howard, O'Neal Thigpen, O'Neal Bailey and Phil Collier, honorary.Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his loving wife; his parents, Frank & Lula Williams; his precious grandson, Heath Whitehorn and son-in-law, Danny Kerby. He is survived by an only child, Teresa Kerby-Phillips whom he lovingly referred to as "punkin" and her husband, Ricky; a precious grandson whom he was like a daddy to, Rusty Whitehorn; sisters, Ruby Woodham, Jean Robertson and Georgia French; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Sarah) Wright and Landis (Nancy) Wright; sister-in-law, Dorris Wright; special nieces & nephews and a dear friend, Jean Kelley.Alton was a butcher at Liberty Supermarket and later owned and operated M&W Butcher Shop with his precious wife, Edith. In later years, Alton was a car salesman for Lawrenceburg Chrysler until retirement. He was a very loving and caring Husband, Daddy, devoted Granddaddy and a Friend to many he touched. He treasured time spent with his daughter and grandson.
