James A. Goodwin, 78, of Upton, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Farquhar) Goodwin, and the late Patricia L. (Callahan) Goodwin. Born in Boston, MA on October 12, 1931, he was the son of the late James A. and Helen F. Goodwin. He leaves his five sons, James A. Goodwin and his wife, Helen, of Sanford, ME, Allan M. Goodwin and his wife, Cindy, of Tampa, FL, Lawrence E. Goodwin of Norwood, MA, Daniel P. Goodwin of Blackstone, MA and Kenneth S. Goodwin of Uxbridge, MA; his two daughters, Helen L. Russell and her husband, Glenn, of Blackstone, MA and Janice A. Harris of Northbridge, MA; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Shirley Blades of Bellingham, MA, Mary Blades of Arizona, Nancy Parenteau of Bellingham, MA and the late Robert and Laurence Goodwin. A resident of Upton for over two years formerly of Whitins ville, Bellingham, Florida and Maine, he was a warehouse manager at Sears in Allston, MA for 27 years until retiring in 1988. After retirement he was a salesman for Sears in Florida, Newington, NH, Attleboro and Leominster, MA. He also was a certified assistant at the Care-A-Lot Day Care in Northbridge where he was known as Papa. He was an avid deer hunter in his younger years, loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. Visiting hours are Saturday, April 24, at CARTIERS FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA from 4-6:30 PM with a Celebration of Life Service from 6:30-7 PM.
