Jack E. Weaver April 3, 2011 Jack E. Weaver, born October 30, 1933, passed away on April 3, 2011, from complications of emphysema. He was born in Oak Hall, PA during the Great Depression and worked to help support his eight brothers and sister during difficult times. Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his son, William, in Jacksonville, FL and his daughter, Heidi Hotaling in Syracuse, NY and their families. His brothers Jim, Lee and Larry and his Uncle Jack survive him in State College Pennsylvania. He served in the military as part of the Air Force as a Russian linguist from 1958 to 1962 during the Cold War and was honorably discharged after his exemplary service to our country. Jack attended Oswego University where he obtained his master's degree in education. He taught in the Syracuse City School District, became a principal and later an administrator of special projects where he created several successful programs to keep "at risk" students from quitting school. He retired at 55 and went on to pursue his drug and alcohol certificate and worked at the Syracuse Brick house to help rehabilitating Alcoholics, as he was one himself. He served the Syracuse community for over 30 years providing jobs and opportunities. He was a survivor who believed in second chances for everyone. Jack was a 28-year veteran of AA who gave support to many people in the program for years after retiring to Florida. He will be missed by many people across the country. RIP There will be a family gathering honoring his memory on April 10. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Jack's name to either of the following charities. These charities work directly with his hometown and organizations he worked with. www.sbh.org - Syracuse Behavioral Health (the brickhouse); or www.habitatgcc.org - Oak Hall/Bellefonte, PA Habitat for Humanity, building houses for those in need.
