DETROIT -- Judith L. Davis, 74, died peacefully Oct. 1, 2013 at her home in Detroit.She was born on Nov. 14, 1938, in Burnham, the daughter of the late Glendon and Ethel (Weymouth) Braley Sr. She graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1957 and married Robert Davis.Judy was employed for several years at Northeast Shoe. She had a great love for music and was very gifted in playing the organ, accordion and the drums. She was a loving, patient mother and was a foster parent with her husband for more than 20 years. One of her favorite things to do was seasonal camping at Sebasticook Lake Campground.She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Davis, of Detroit; two sons, Gary Davis and wife Patricia, of Scarborough, and Bob Davis, of Detroit; grandsons Christopher and Benjamin; several nieces and nephews; many loved foster children; special friends Carrie Willey, of Etna, and Ron and Barbara Creamer, of Plymouth; and her tiger cat, Abigail.She was predeceased by her parents; and three brothers, Glendon Jr., Norman and Urban.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home with Julianne Bousquet, M. of Divinity, officiating. A committal service will follow at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.The family would like to say a special thank-you to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care and HealthReach Hospice for all the wonderful care and compassion given to Judy during her battle with cancer.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MaineGeneral Health, Office of Philanthropy, Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, P.O.
