CHELSEA - Judith A. "Judy" Alexander, 60, died peacefully Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and close friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 8, 1953, in Barre, the daughter of Ernest H. and Sadie (Parshley) Kennedy. She grew up in Chelsea, where she attended school and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1971. After high school, she attended the Brattleboro Nursing School, where she received her degree as a licensed practical nurse. She worked at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center and St. Jude's Nursing Home before coming to the Chelsea Health Center. For many years Judy worked at the health center caring for her community. On May 25, 1985, she married John H. Alexander Jr., of Chelsea. They made their home on Beacon Hill in Chelsea, where they raised their children, Kim, Kelley and Shawn. She enjoyed camping with her sisters and friends; motorcycling with John on the Harley; sitting around a good campfire; and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Lady Washington 86 Order of the Eastern Star of Chelsea. She is survived by her husband, John, of Chelsea; two daughters, Kim Danforth and her husband, Ken, of Orange, and Kelley Simone and her husband, Chris, of Indianapolis; a stepson, Shawn Alexander, and his wife, Sarah, of Woodbury, Conn.; two grandchildren; her parents, Ernest and Sadie Kennedy, of Chelsea; a brother, Mark Kennedy, and his wife, Holly, of Concord, N.C.; two sisters, Jane Cushman and her husband, Brian, and Sue Johnston and her husband, Greg, all of Chelsea; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Chelsea in Chelsea with the Rev. Deadra Ashton officiating.
