Joyce-Rosena Jackson, née en 1932, conjointe de Tarrant Jackson, fille de Mary-Mack et Oscar, est décédée le 20 juillet 1932.
Joyce Rosena Jackson was born July 20, 1932 in Washington, D.C. to Mary Mack Williams and the late Oscar Williams. A longtime Mount Vernon resident, she passed on Monday, November 25, 2002. She graduated Coulter Memorial Academy High School in Cheraw, SC. Joyce was avid about education. She graduated from The Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC and later attained her Masters Degree in Education from the College of New Rochelle in 1981. Joyce was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A born educator, she taught elementary school in the Mt. Vernon School system for 28 years and was a tutor at the Imani Cultural Academy at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church. She also taught Sunday School at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church where she was a member for 33 years. Joyce Williams met and married Tarrant Jackson in 1958. This union was blessed with twin daughters Elmira Jackson-Taylor and the late Alvetta Jackson-Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Tarrant, her daughter Elmira and son-in-law Dr. Kirk Taylor, her mother Mary Williams, her brothers James and George Williams, her sister Mamie Breeden, her grandson Kalif Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 9 pm Friday, November 29 at the Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church, 312 South Eighth Ave., Mt. Vernon, NY. Funeral Service will be held 9 am Saturday, November 30 at the church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY. Arrangements entrusted to CAMELOT FUNERAL HOME, INC.
