DAVIS, Johnson Edmund,82, died in Haven Hospicein Chiefland, Florida,Wednesday, February 24. Hewas predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Davis and his brother, Blake Davis, all of Montgomery andhis wife, Dorothy ChappellDavis of Miami, Florida. Mr. Davis was a graduate ofGordon Military Institute inBarnesville, Georgia and theUniversity of Georgia. He received his law degree fromthe University of Miami, afterwards practicing law in Miami for more than 50 years. He is survived by two daughters who live near Gainesville,Florida, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, twonieces and three nephews.In Alabama, he is survived byhis sister, Dot Davis Moore,and a nephew, RussellMoore, both in Montgomery,and a niece, Marjorie MooreJones, in Birmingham. Mr. Davis was an Episcopalian. During World War II heserved in the Marine Corps.He was active in the JuniorChamber of Commerce andwas a national officer andpresident of the Florida Jaycees. He was also active inthe American Legion andwas a national officer andthe Legion Commander ofFlorida. At the University ofGeorgia, he was president ofhis Sigma Nu fraternity. Mr. Davis will have a memorial service at a family cemetery located at the Macedonia Baptist Church in HeardCounty, Georgia in the earlyspring.
