HOOD, JOHNNIE LEE, Born on December 7, 1930 in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, John lived in Winter Park for the last 33 years, after a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy. Everyone who knew him loved and appreciated John's kindness, humor, and endless generosity. He leaves behind many devoted friends, neighbors, and loving family members, including daughters Rhonda Hood, Cheryl Bond and her husband Mike, Monica Harry and her husband Greg, and Robin Mulligan, all of the Orlando area. He has 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, every one of whom spent countless hours rocking on Grandpa's lap. He has five surviving siblings: Gladys Jackson of Winter Park, Doris Carter of Orlando, Hazel Hoffner of Kansas, Sarah Manley of Illinois, and Clyde Hood of Indiana. John died of complications from cancer on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Florida Hospital in Orlando, and requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. His memorial service will be held at Noon on Friday, June 27, at Baldwin-Fairchild Goldenrod Chapel.
