WILLIAMS, John Valentine(JV÷, TSgt (USAF, retired),85, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died Saturday, November 17, 2007.Graveside services will beheld Tuesday, November 20,2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. ReverendRobert Warren presiding. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel. JV was preceded in death by his wifeMary Evelyn Duke Williams;parents James Marvin andNancy Marie Spann Williams;brothers, Adolph, Wilbur,Spann, Rex, Judson, Harold,and Guy Williams; and sisters,Nell Till, Vivian Burkett, andBonnie Lowery. He is survivedby his daughter, Pamela Williams Singley and husbandChuck, of Montgomery; sonRoyce Wilton Williams andwife Regina, of Montgomery;granddaughter, Ashley Williams Callis and husbandDustin of Lowndesboro; brother, Sidney Williams of Greenville; sister, Wynona Jones ofGeorgiana and numerousnieces and nephews. Sgt. Williams entered the US Army in1942 and served through1945. His combat campaignsin Europe included the Normandy Invasion, the Battle ofthe Bulge, and the invasion ofGermany. He re-entered military service in the US Air Forcein 1947, served in numerousstateside and overseas assignments, and retired in1968. His government servicecontinued in the US Civil Service for an additional 20 yearsat Craig and Maxwell AirForce Bases in Alabama. JVwas an active Mason for over50 years, serving for manyyears in the Railroad Unit ofthe Acazar Shrine Temple.Pallbearers will be David Royand Sgt.
