AMES, JOHN L., 76, passed away Thursday, March 13. He is survived by his wife Julia Ames; daughter Linda Ames and granddaughter Brittany of Orlando; daughter Donna Hussey of Rochester, NH; sister Sharon Coulombe of Orlando; brother Norman LaBrecque and wife Beatrice of Rochester NH. He is also survived by mother-in-law Eva ("Vovo") Glasscock; three stepsons Rick Girdley and wife, Marcia, Scott Girdley and wife Diane, Kirk Girdley and wife Stacy; two stepdaughters Maureen Crowell and husband Patrick, all of Orlando; Kelly Minyard and husband Ken of Hickory, NC; along with 14 grandchildren, Steven Winkle, Matt and Sharmin Sessions, Julie Crowell, Conner, Jordan and Elizabeth Girdley, Trisha and Todd Girdley, Kirk and Brandon Girdley. John was born in Rochester, New Hampshire. He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in WWII. He moved to Orlando in 1973. He was President and CEO of United States Crane, Inc. and its subsidiaries. He was a member of numerous engineering organizations. John enjoyed golfing and participated in the Disney Golf Classic every year since its inception. John was very loved by his family, friends and his beloved dog Maggie and will be deeply missed. The family would like to welcome all friends to a celebration of John's life to be held at 10AM on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the family home in Orlando.
