John James "Red" Powell, of Peekskill, died October 19, 2001 at the Westchester Medical Center. He was 63. Red was a self-employed painter for most of his life. He was born January 29, 1938 in Tuskegee, AL to James M. and Willodene Williams Powell. Red came to New York in 1952 from Alabama and moved to Peekskill in 1975 from White Plains. He also served in the US Army. He is survived by his mother, Willodene Marshall of White Plains, a son, Clarence A. Powell of Elmsford, a sister, Wanda E. Showell of West Chester, PA, a brother, Harry T. Marshall of Oakland, CA, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 2 aunts. He was predeceased by his father, James M. Powell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, 313 No. James St., Peekskill, where friends may visit on Tuesday from 7-9 pm only. Interment Hillside Cemetery.
