John Francis Elliott, 74, a long time Hastings-on-Hudson resident died Tuesday, March 5, 2002. Mr. Elliott was born to Bernard and Goldie (Reip) Elliott in West Virginia where he was raised and educated. He served in the US Army during World War II and Korea. John and his wife Bernice later lived in the Bronx before settling in Hastings in 1960. Mrs. Elliott died in 1995. John worked as a truck driver for different freight companies including Atlantic Air Freight Company, which was located in Port Chester. He was a member of Local 295 International Brotherhood of Teamsters in New York City. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Carolyn and Kevin LaFaye, Michael and Lauren Elliott, Richard Elliott, two sisters Nina Nicholas and Maxine Mottice and three grandchildren. Visiting Friday 9 am to 11 am at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow at Kensico Cemetery. Memorials to Jansen Hospice appreciated.
