JACKSON, JOANN CARTER age 81, formerly of Bessemer, AL passed away January 2, 2012. Mrs. Jackson had a passion for her work as an interior decorator, and enjoyed competing in floral design. She and her husband retired to Logan Martin Lake for the last years of their lives. She was an active member of South Highland Baptist Church for many years, and was most recently a member of First Baptist of Helena. Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert. She is survived by her sister Betty Davis (Jack) of Maylene; three children Steve Jackson (Cathie) of Springville, Kathy Hunt of Pelham, Greg Jackson (LeeAnn) of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren, Vince Howell, Betsy McBee, Amanda Story, Jesslyn Jackson, Hunter Jackson; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Jackson will be Thursday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service with Dr. Greg Walker and Morris Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Valhalla Cemetary. >>
