JOAN (BESSETTE) DELAIRE JOHNSON - WILLISTON, Vt./HUDSON, Fla. - Joan Johnson unexpectedly died on Oct. 10, 2013. She was born Jan. 20, 1937, the daughter of Maragret and Kenneth Bessette Sr. of Williston. A 1955 Burlington High School grad, Joan worked as a school bus driver in Williston and Pasco County, Fla., and won many driving awards. When she retired she didn't stop, Joan was active in Bunco group, Bocce ball, and Bingo clubs, two Red Hat chapters, was secretary of Beacon Woods Board of Directors where she lived, was an avid garage saler, and of course, with her beloved '08 Corvette convertible was a Corvette Club member. Joan was a vibrant woman also known as "Joanie-ago-go." Joannie will be dearly missed. Joan is survived by her five children, G. Scott Delaire of Williston, Mark A. Delaire of California, Jeffrey L. Delaire of Florida, Laurie A. Gaylord of New Hampshire, and Susan A. Moore of Florida; stepsons, John and Dan Johnson; sister, Joyce Fredette of Florida; brother, Kenneth Jr. and Gayle Bessette of Williston; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Lee Ward Johnson. A graveside service will be held at East Cemetery in Williston at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, followed by a celebration of her life from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Burlington Country Club, 568 So. Prospect St., Burlington. Arrangements are in care of the Gifford Funeral Home, Richmond.
