JEAN "JOHN" M. DELAGE - WINOOSKI - Jean "John" M. Delage, 87, a longtime resident of Winooski, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington. John was born in Winooski on Feb. 23, 1927, the son of Edward J. and Theresa (Charpantier) Delage, and was educated in Winooski at St. Louis Convent and St. Francis Xavier School. He was married in Winooski on Nov. 26, 1975, to Bettye Jane (Hollingsworth) Delage. John was employed for 13 years at Mazel's Shoe Store in Burlington, 11 years at Danform Shoes in St. Albans, and retired in 1999 from the Essex school system. He was a former member of the Eagles Club, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Moose Lodge, and Winooski Senior Citizens. He enjoyed horseshoes, shuffleboard and bowling. John is survived by his wife, Bettye Delage; children, Ernest Delage and Nancy Japhet, Theresa and Ernest Mead, Leonard and Ann Delage, Cecile and David Lawrence, and JoAnn and Bill Rondeau; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Theriault; nieces, nephews, and extended family. A special thank you to granddaughter, Tracy Fisher, for her love, care and kindness. He was predeceased by his sister, Rita Paquette. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
