MORRISON, JAMES DAVIDJames David "Jim" Morrison, 69, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully at E.T. Hospice Care Center, on Thursday, July 19, 2012. Jim was born May 16, 1943, in Beckley, WVA, to Howard and Gladys Lyon Morrison. Jim and Connie moved to Gainesville, in 1978 from Dover, Delaware. He was a residential builder and constructed many spec and custom homes, including some in Heatherwood, Chatworth Court, and the Hills of Santa Fe. Jim loved building new homes and his wife said he loved the smell of the new freshly cut wood that he was constructing the homes with. Jim was very talented and could do any task that was placed in front of him. He often not only built the home, but also did the electrical and plumbing work. Mr. Morrison was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack and George, and 1 sister, Lorraine. Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Constance A. "Connie" Morrison, a son, Eric and a daughter, Erica Morrison-Rhyne, 1 Brother, Howard & his wife, Betty, 3 sisters, Eleanor, Mae, Jeanne & her husband, Peter,a sister in law, Juanita, and 3 grandchildren, Connie, Amanda, and Jimmy. Jim was especially loved by many nieces nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 23, 2012, from 5:00p.m.-7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel in the Meadows (Forest Meadows Memorial Park, Central, Mausoleum) 4100 N.W. 39th Ave. Gainesville, FL 32606, with Chaplain Loyal Frisbie-Knudsen, Haven Hospice, officiating.
