Jack Barrett Williams, 80, passed from this life July 9, 2011. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Marianne; his son Christopher and wife Louisa of Tallahassee; and his daughter Patricia Williams of Port Orange. Jack also leaves behind his sons Eric Gscheidle and wife Gabriella of Orlando; Kurt Gscheidle of Midland, TX; and Jeffrey Gscheidle of Beltsville, Md. Jack's grandsons whom he leaves behind are Chase Williams, Denim Williams, Brian Williams, Christopher Gscheidle, Nicholas Gscheidle; and Neil Gscheidle. Grandaughters whom he leaves behind are Cheri Lujan, Emily Gscheidle, and Kristina Gscheidle, as well as six great-grandchildren. Jack was born March 29, 1931, in Greenville, AL, to Grady and Mary Williams, both of whom predeceased him. Also predeceasing Jack were his sister, Marianne Higginbotham, and his first wife of 38 years, Spuz. Jack was a faithful member of the Beville Road Church of Christ for many years, serving as a deacon and, in the past, a Sunday school teacher. Jack moved to Daytona Beach in 1946 where he graduated from Mainland High School in 1950. He subsequently attended Virginia Tech where he starred in football, baseball, and track. Not only was Jack an outstanding athlete, he had the distinction of being one of the top 10 punters in the United States for three consecutive years. Jack served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, after which he returned to Daytona Beach where he was employed by Florida Power and Light for 35 years, retiring in 1988. Jack was admired, respected, and loved by many. He was generous in his support of numerous Christian endeavors. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted in the knowledge that Jack's suffering in this life has come to an end and joy awaits him with his Lord. A memorial service will be held in Jack's honor at Beville Road Church of Christ, 850 Beville Road, Daytona Beach, on Saturday, July 23rd, at 2 p.m. It would be our pleasure to have those who knew and loved Jack share this time with us. Memorial Donations may be made to Florida School of Preaching, 1807 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland, FL 33803
