J. Nelson Hood one of Rockland County's most respected Attorneys died unexpectedly Monday October 4, 2010. He was 66. He was born June 28, 1944 in Rye, New York to the late Joseph and Marjorie (Butler) Hood. Jay attended Resurrection School in Rye, Iona Prep High School, St. Bonaventure University and then attended St. John's Law School. He served his country proudly as a captain in the United States Army. Being very community minded Jay was a member of B.P.O.E. 877 Haverstraw Elks, 35 year member of General Warren Rescue Company, Haverstraw Arts Alliance, Haverstraw Brick Museum, Historical Society of the Nyacks Leo Laders American Legion . He was also a member of the Rockland County and New York State Bar Association and the New York State Magistrate Association. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathleen, son Jay and his wife Julie, daughter Amy and grandsons Avery and Quinlan. Friends may call Thursday and Friday 2-4, 7-9 pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home HAVERSTRAW. Jay's mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. T.J.
