ST-AMAND J. Gerard Jean Claude May 22, 1934 - June 7, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Jean Claude on June 7th at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. Although he was born in Riviere Du Loup, Quebec, Claude spent his entire adult life in Vancouver, B.C. where he was married for 24 years to his true love, Sonya and worked hard together to raise their two remarkable children. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his better half of 26 years, Emily Bisaro, daughter, Sonya (St-Amand) Gulbransen (Noel), son, Claude St-Amand (Dawn) and grandchildren, Karsten, Alicia and Kelsey. Claude was predeceased by Sonya in 1988, his brother, Irenae?e St-Amand in 2002 and leaves behind many pained siblings, Maurice St-Amand (Marcelle), Omer Jr. St-Amand (Micheline), Diane Michaud, Franc?ine St-Amand, Yvon St-Amant (Noe?lla), Lucie St-Amand (Jean-Noe?l) and Aline St-Amand (Daniel). He also leaves behind many friends and family - both immediate and extended in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Claude will always be remembered for his overwhelming kindness to others, his genuine invitations to join "The Black Angel" for a cup of coffee at Denny's or to lace up a pair of ice skates and join him for a quick 100 laps around the arena. His passion in life was the game of ice hockey, both as a player and as a spectator and Claude was and will no doubt always be the Montreal Canadiens' number one fan! There will be a cremation and no service by request. A celebration of Claude's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at "Snowy's Lounge" located at Kitsilano War Memorial Community Centre, 2690 Larch Street in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Claude's memory to Canuck Place Children's Hospice and would certainly be greatly appreciated. Claude's family would like to extend a big thank you to the doctors, nurses and other staff both in the Emergency and on Ward 7B at St. Paul's Hospital who took such terrific care of our special Jean Claude. Also, we are grateful to Aaron Morrison of Vancouver Memorial Service and Crematorium for handling our loss in such a loving and caring manner. We love you and will always miss you, Jean Claude. A true angel has gone to heaven.
