IVA MAE SMITH (NEE HAZEN) DALLAS, TX Iva Mae Smith, age 84 of Dallas, TX, formerly of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2010. She is survived by her three sons: Terry (Ruthie) Smith, Tom (Liz) Smith and Tim (Becky) Smith, all of Dallas, TX; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia (Bob) Honig of Geneseo, IL; one niece and one nephew. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Edwin Smith and parents: Charles and Etta Hazen. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, August 20, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Iva had been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area before moving to Dallas to be near her family. She had been a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hammond for many years, where she was the superintendent of the Junior High Sunday School Department. Iva had a beautiful smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
