MILLER Irma Elizabeth Age 99 of Horseheads, NY went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2008 at The Manor at Bethany Village in Horseheads, NY. Irma was born September 2, 1909 in Hocking, Ohio the daughter of the late Elliott and Arvenna Terpenning Miller. Irma, as the last surviving member of her family, was predeceased by her seven sisters and brothers. She is survived by her nephew, Duane Edminster and wife Jan, her great-niece, LuAnn Saxton and husband Mike, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Irma moved to Horseheads, NY with her family while still very young. She graduated from Horseheads High School where she was a "star" basketball player. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Elmira Business Institute in 1929. She was a school teacher for a number of years prior to working for and retiring from Thatcher Glass Company in Elmira, NY on September 12, 1973. Irma was a long-time and devout member of the First Baptist Church of Horseheads where she was an active member, including teaching Sunday school classes. Irma's priorities were her faith and her family, and she devoted much of her life to her church and taking care of her family. She lived at the Bethany Retirement Center since early 2002. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating Irma's Life on Saturday January 10, 2009 at 11 AM at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY. The Rev. Sidney S. Aldrich will officiate. Irma will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
