PEMBROKE – Mrs. Irene O. (Arsenault) Lemay, 75, a longtime Pembroke resident, died peacefully at home with family by her side Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, after a lengthy illness.Born on April 15, 1939, in Penacook, Irene was the daughter of Arthur and Josephine (Landry) Arsenault. Before her retirement, she had worked in the housekeeping department for 34 years at NH College / Southern NH University.Irene loved her free time and enjoyed a variety of interests. She loved spending time with her family, from playing cards on Saturday nights with her brothers and sisters to hosting holiday parties. She enjoyed the outdoors – camping and fishing; crafts – knitting, sewing, and crocheting, and, of course, Bingo. She also liked traveling, wintering and attending country jams in Florida and motorcycle trips with her favorites being Niagara Falls and Nashville.Mrs. Lemay is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jean M. Lemay Sr. of Pembroke; four children and their spouses, Cheryl Proulx and Marcel of Manchester, Timothy Lemay of Burlington, Vt., Jeannie Woolf and John of Pembroke and Jean Lemay Jr. and Joe-Ann of Weare; five grandchildren, Michael, David, Bryant, Natalie and Brad; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Arsenault of Concord; and nieces and nephews.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 14th at 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown.
