December 27, 2012 Irene M. Waterman Smith, 96, of Central Square, passed away Dec. 27, 2012, at the Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, on March 29, 1916, a daughter of Merle and Lela Brown Rositer. She was an LPN working for St. Joseph's Hospital and Oswego County Nurses for many years. Irene was a former member of the Borodino United Methodist Church, past matron of Puritan Chapter O.E.S. #159, Pulaski, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Parish, NY. She was predeceased by two husbands, Thomas Waterman in 1981 and Walter Smith, 2006. Surviving are four daughters, Patricia May of Central Square, Shirley and Frank Foti of Moravia, Nancy and Ed Ferguson of Central Square, Beverly and Steve Crim of Parish; a son, Thomas and Thelma Waterman of Madras, OR; stepdaughter April and Jim DeWan of Marcellus; a stepson, Walter and Darlene Smith of Hudson, FL; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 13 great- great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Judith McCloat in 1981 and Margie Winks in 2011. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Sunday from the Watson Funeral Home, Central Square, NY. Spring interment in Hastings Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 631 S. Main Street.
