WATERFORD Irene M. Cooper, 77, of Hudson River Road, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Irene Pelkey Durocher. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School. Irene had been employed for 28 years at the Grand Union Warehouse Data Operations Center in Waterford and retired in 1988. Prior to that she had been employed at the former J.M. Fields Co. She was a member of the Waterford Senior Citizens, Waterford Bocci League, was a volunteer at the Waterford Visitors Center and had worked at the polls on election days. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and former member of the Altar Society there. She was widow of the late Oscar Ozzie Cooper who died in 1987. She is mother of Paul T. Cooper of Waterford, James O. Cooper and his wife Carla of Saratoga and Michael J. Cooper and his wife Paula of Cohoes; sister of Bertha Durocher of Waterford, Robert Durocher of Rotterdam, John Durocher of Cohoes, Flo Guild of Clifton Park, Barbara Gibbs of Troy, the late Eugene Durocher and Mildred Charbonneau. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Lyndsay, Christopher and Miranda Cooper as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and 9:30 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waterford Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home office.
