-> Glennville - Irene Groover Smith, 85, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Glenvue Nursing Home. She was born in Tattnall County moving to Milledge in 1939 to attend Georgia Women's College and later Marsh Business College in Atlanta. She was employed for many years with Citizens and Southern National Bank in Atlanta and other Banks in California, Texas and Tennessee. She returned to Glennville in 1961 and opened Smith's Office Supply and later worked with Glennville Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center. She was employed with the Tattnall County Board of Education for six years at Glennville Middle School and six years at Glennville Elementary School. She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Smith Maund. She is survived by sister, Thelma Bowen of Glennville; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Groover and Betty Groover both of Glennville; granddaughter, Jane Mobley (Wayne) ofGlennville; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Jessica Mobley of Glennville; six nieces and six nephews also survive. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2006 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2006 at Carter Funeral Chapel.
