<!-- FH = National Cremation & Burial Society -->Irene AliceHofmann Slocum1924-2011Irene Alice Hofmann Slocum, 87, passed away May 5, 2011, at Bayside Manor of Pensacola, FL. She was a graduate of Manasaquan High School in New Jersey. She worked as telephone operator during WW II, and married John Slocum of Ocean, NJ, in May 1947. She later operated a tour business in Phoenix, AZ, and traveled to Europe and Hawaii with her family. Ms. Slocum retired to Florida in 1990. She is survived by her sons; Jeffrey Slocum and wife Maggie of Asbury Park, NJ; John Slocum and wife Janet of Ocean, NJ, her daughter Debra Setrin of Fredericksburg, VA, and her granddaughter, Dawn Setrin of Pensacola, FL; and 20 nieces and nephews. Ms. Slocum enjoyed going to the beach and going out for ice cream with her granddaughter. Her smile and cheerful personality will missed by all those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at The Wayside United Methodist Church, 1229 West Park Ave, Ocean, NJ. telephone 732-493-8039.
