Ida Mae Mitchell Ida Mae Mitchell, 89, who retired from the Department of Transportation, died Saturday, May 31, 2003. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday at St. Rosa Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee, with burial at the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 9 to 10:50 a.m. EDT Saturday at the church.Strong & Jones Funeral Home (224-2139) is handling arrangements. She was a member of St. Rosa Primitive Baptist and served on the mothers' board. She is survived by three sons, C.J. James (and wife Dot) and Alfred James, both of Tallahassee, and the Rev. William James of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Estella Sawyer of Tallahassee; three grandchildren she raised as her own, Veronica Washington of Tallahassee, Demetri Williams of St. Marys, Ga., and Bernard Johnson of Los Angeles; a sister, Camilla Bush of Jacksonville; a brother, John Mitchell of Thomasville, Ga.; 12 other grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
