McDonald, Ian McDonald Ian Carlyle McDonald passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice at the age of 94 years. Ian was predeceased by his parents Dan and Annie McDonald; his wife Lillian (Billie); his daughter Beverley; his greatgranddaughter Chelsey Gusway; his greatgreat granddaughter Anna Stanford; sister Annie McCormick; and his brothers Pat and Allan. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters Gwen (Barrie) Gusway and Lynda McDonald; five grandchildren Beverley (Rick) Woytowich, Leslie (Michael) Kutarna, Tracy (Donna) Gusway, Jamie Lothian and Quinn (Cheryl) Gusway; 17 great-grandchildren; 16 greatgreat grandchildren; sister Rita (Ray) Huot; and brother Bruce (Mamie) McDonald ; and many nieces and nephews.Ian was born on February 4, 1916 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was the eldest of 6 children. He married Lillian (Billie) Warne in 1936 and had three daughters Gwen, Beverley and Lynda. Ian served in World War II from 1939 1945. He moved his family to Melfort in 1954 while working for Canadian Propane. The family returned to Regina in 1964 where Ian worked as a salesman and later became the manager and icemaker at the Tartan Curling Club. He also worked at Shaw Pipe and finally retired at the age of 75 after working as the caretaker of Christ the King R.C. Parish for ten years. Ian was a man of many talents and really enjoyed working with wood and making many beautiful items for family and friends. Ian was always a handyman and could find a way to fix anything. As well, he had many other hobbies and interests including curling, fishing, hunting, gardening, and he was an avid Sask. Roughrider fan and long-term season ticket holder. He loved the outdoors and his greatest joy was being at the family cabin at Glen Harbour with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ian will be forever remembered for his kind spirit, his big heart, his generosity, and his willingness to help anyone at anytime. Special thanks to the staff at the Wascana Grace Hospice for the wonderful care they gave our dad and grandpa. A huge thank you to Cliff Geiger for being an "angel" in our time of need. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, with cocelebrants Rev. Sathiadas Antony and Rev. Ken Koep. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Victoria Funeral Home.
