MORROW Hugh Birkmyre Hugh was born March 17, 1921 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and passed away June 6, 2008 at Evergreen Lodge in North Vancouver. In his youth he was an avid rugby player and loved socializing with his large circle of friends. Upon graduating from the Royal Belfast Academic Institute, he began his career in the insurance industry. Offered the opportunity to come to work in Canada in 1951, he came firstly to Toronto and then to Edmonton where he met and married Isabel in 1955. In 1962 they moved to Vancouver, where Hugh was finally able to indulge in his love of sailing. His business career spanned 43 years, during which time he became manager for Western Canada for the Century Insurance Company. He also served as chairman of the B. C. Insurance Council for two years. Hugh was presented with many challenges in his life, but faced them all with a positive attitude and a cheerful outlook. His family was tremendously important to him, and was his greatest satisfaction as he looked back on his life in later years. Left to remember him are his loving wife of 52 years, Isabel, children Douglas (Angela) and Sheila (Tim) Fairbank, grandchildren Sean, Ryan, Preston, and Hope Morrow, Emily and Jonathan Fairbank. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wayne Smith for his caring attention for our Dad. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11 am at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre, 225 East 2nd St., North Vancouver, B.C., V7L 1C4.
