Hamilton, Howard Lee Andre Roome, long time resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away June 29, 2003. Survived by his loving wife, Cecilia Potocny Hamilton and his adoring daughter, Candace Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was born January 7, 1923 in Manhattan, NY to Lee Hutchinson Roome and Ellen Kjar-Neilsen Roome. In New York he studied at the School of Music and Arts. During this time he traveled to Denmark and Europe. He later moved to Washington D.C. and worked at the National Savings and Trust as a bookkeeper while attending Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Fraternity, an associate professor of economics and obtained his degree of Bachelor of Science. After moving to Florida he fell in love with the beauty of the ocean and relaxed atmosphere. He became the Display Director of Scott's Departments Stores, Purchasing Agent and graphics artist at Flamingo Orange Groves. Mr. Hamilton was also a director at Prospect Hall College and retired as Inventory Controller of San Frederick's Retail Stores Mr. Hamilton and his wife moved to Beverly Hills, FL and then recently back to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to be close to family. Those who knew him well will remember him for his sense of humor, intellectuality, compassion and selflessness. Also as an artist, teacher, and professional. The day God called you home, You left us beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, You are always by our side. As God calls us one by one, The chain of love will link again.
