Ruth Wheeler-CollinsonHomosassaRuth Wheeler-Collinson, Homosassa, Florida, died at the Stratford Court Nursing Facility in Palm Harbor, Jan. 17, 2015. Ruth was born in Berlin, Germany, Oct. 19, 1932. to Eduard Felix and Margarita (Zyball) Fellgner. The family emigrated to Bolivia, South America December 1932. She graduated high school in Sucre and attended university in La Paz, Bolivia. She ably assisted her father in his mining business. She married Stephen Wilcox Wheeler August 4, 1952. Steve was a Station Manager for Pan American World Airways and they resided in several locations including La Paz, Bolivia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Caracas, Venezuela; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Huntington Bay, New York; Barcelona, Spain; and Boston, Massachusetts. Ruth became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1967 and was extremely proud to be an American. Upon Steve's retirement from Pan Am they located in Homosassa where they enjoyed golf, bridge, and volunteer work. After Steve passed away in 1988, Ruth began working part time at The American Legion Post 155, in Crystal River. In this capacity she met Roger Collinson. After a courtship they were married September 25, 1993, in Crystal River. They made their home in Homosassa. In her spare time she volunteered as an aide in the Brooksville Hospital, and the Hospice Store in Homosassa. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert. She is survived by three children, Captain Eduardo Wheeler, USN Ret., Laura ?Lahm, and Sandra Wheeler; six grandchildren, Alexis Lahm, Stephen Lahm, Alejandro Lopez-Wheeler, Sara Lopez-Wheeler, Grayson Wheeler, and Trey Wheeler; three ?step-children, Roger Collinson Jr., Ramona Collinson, and Robyn Ayers; six step-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.Ruth will join her first husband, a US Navy World War II veteran, in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River.
