Hilda S. (Stenberg) Phillips age 95 years of Brockton, MA formerly of Whitman died Thursday, December 22, 2011 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Leo R. Phillips. Born Tuesday, October 3, 1916 in Roslindale, MA she was the daughter of the late Carl and Frida Stenberg. Hilda was a graduate of Framingham State and Simmons College in Boston. She was a long time resident of Whitman and had lived in Brockton for the past 3 years. She worked for many years as a teacher in Brockton Schools and was a member and past president of the Womans Garden Club in Whitman. She was also a member of the Whitman Womens Club and a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Hanover. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts and traveling. She is survived by her children Linda Philbrook and her husband Skip of Hanson, Edward Phillips and his wife Julie of Hanson, Laura Fulcher and her husband Don of KY and Donna Phillips of Brockton; 8 grandchildren Steven Philbrook, Tracy Phillips, Lisa Orrall, Wendi Linn, Ed Phillips Jr., Wayne Philbrook, Kin LItalien and LeighAnn Phillips and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 4 - 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
