Mr. Herbert Steve Bishop - YEMASSEE, SC - Mr. Herbert Steve Bishop died Monday, September 06, 2010 at his residence in Yemassee after an extended illness. Born March 8, 1936 in St. Helena Island, SC, he was the son of the late Oscar Rudolph Bishop, Sr. and Ruth Steinmeyer Bishop. He was a graduate of Beaufort High School, attended Clemson University, served his country in the United States Army and was also a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Yemassee Planning Commission. He is survived by his wife, Diane Farrior Bishop of the home; one son, Stephen Bishop and wife Samantha of Griffin, GA; two daughters, Angie Riedel and husband Tim of LaGrange, GA and Kristin Heape and husband Ed of Henderson, NC; two brothers, O. R. Bishop, Jr. and Hezzie Bishop, both of St. Helena Island, SC and one sister, Patricia Hudson of Walterboro, SC. There are 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Jimmy Bishop. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:30 PM in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Yemassee, SC, conducted by Rev. Lois Helms and Rev. Brent Page. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352).
