Anderson, Helene CharlotteMay 7, 1923 - March 24, 2009Helene Charlotte Anderson, 85, of Sarasota died March 24, 2009.Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, graveside at Palms-Robarts Memorial Park. Helene came to Sarasota in March 1952 from Chicago. She worked as a secretary for Realtor Walter Gruhler. In 1954 she obtained her real estate license. As a broker, she opened an office on Ocean Boulevard in 1959. Helene was the president of Siesta Key Merchants Association, president and vice president of Woman's Council of Realtors, fifth district vice president of Woman's Council, Woman of the Year, Woman's Council and president of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce. She received the Governor's Award while president of the Siesta Key Chamber for "tourism promotion," "Certificate of Recognition for Community Development and Betterment of Florida."Helene was the vice president of the Sarasota Board of Realtors and member of committees on policies, education and grievances. She was the member of the board of directors for MLS, first woman president of Sarasota Board of Realtors, director of F.A.R., chairman of professional standards and orientation. She served as a director for the United Way Planning Council, and was the woman Realtor of the Year of both men and women in 1979. Helene was instrumental in getting the four-lane raised bridge across Stickney Point Road while Chamber president. She worked hard on getting the Siesta Beach enlarged and shopping malls off the key.She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Bucci, and husband, Jim; three grandchildren, Tim, Scott and Kristin Bucci; half-brother Ron Pullen of Chicago; niece Susan of Chicago; and in-laws Gloria Digilorano of Indiana, Jim and Carol Anderson of Sarasota, and Don and Mary Anderson of Indiana.
