OAKLAND -- Helen Virginia Gould, 86, of Oakland, and Naples, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan.She was born in Kingfield on June 24, 1919, the daughter of Pearl Potter. She attended Newport schools.She was employed as an inspector at the Diamond International in Oakland, worked at Thayer Hospital, the Oakland Lunch Program and for the Holiday Inn in Waterville.She lived more than 30 years in Naples and spent her summers enjoying Maine where she loved to work in her flower gardens. She was a longtime member of the M.N.O. Club in Oakland, was an avid knitter and crocheter and enjoyed playing golf. She was the recreation director for the Windjammer Village in Naples.She married her husband, Charlie, in 1936, and he died in 1970. Surviving are five daughters, Sally Adams and husband, Jim, of Sarasota, Fla., Catherine Furbush and husband, Bob, of Sidney, Nancy Warren and husband, Jake, of Oakland, Connie Abbott of Naples and Charlotte Hughes and husband, Terry, of Oakland; a brother, Robert Collins of Farmington; a sister, Helen Deloral of Indiana; her longtime companion, Alexander Vieta of Oakland and Naples; a special friend, Alice Severnson of Naples; 21 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her dog, Abbie.A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. Burial will follow at the Lewis Cemetery in Oakland.Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Cedar Ridge Nursing Home, Dr. Mann Road, Skowhegan, ME 04976.
