Helen Sanborn, née en 1921, conjointe de Beacon Hospice, fille de Everett et Mary, mère de Arthur, Arthur P et Jr, est décédée le 15 mars 2007 à l'âge de 85 ans.
->AUGUSTA -- Helen (Cushing) Sanborn, 85, a resident of Falcon Circle, Augusta, passed away in the late afternoon at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, March 15, 2007, with her loving husband and members of the Beacon Hospice at her bedside.She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Hansport, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Everett and Mary (Mitchner) Corbett. The family moved to the Everett, Mass., area when Helen was starting school. She graduated from Wakefield (Mass.) High School and later took nurses training and became a registered nurse and worked in hospitals in the Wakefield area.Shortly after the end of World War II, she met and married Arthur P. Cushing and to the union was born two sons, Arthur Jr. and Alan, who now live in Houlton and Madawaska, respectively. The family moved to Maine after Mr. Cushing retired from the insurance business. They lived in the Tacoma Lakes region and in Smyrna Mills area before settling in Augusta.Her first husband, Arthur P. Cushing, Sr., predeceased her on Dec. 2, 1990. On Dec. 8, 1995, Helen was married to Mr. Roscoe C. Sanborn. Helen was a naturalized citizen. She loved to work in her flower gardens and the grounds around her home showed that, and she also enjoyed crocheting. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Augusta Post #2, R.B. Capen Rebecca Lodge #52, Augusta and also belonged to the Get together Club.She is survived by her husband, Roscoe of Augusta; two sons, Arthur P. Cushing, Jr., and his wife, Lorraine S., of Houlton and Alan E. Cushing and his wife, Norma Marie, of Madawaska; two granddaughters, Amy and Lisa Cushing of Smyrna Mills and Houlton; also a great-grandson, Austin James Grant, and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Lee Larson. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Augusta Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Beacon Hospice, who gave excellent care to Helen while she was a resident there.Graveside services will be held at Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Monmouth, in the spring.
