MANCHESTER -- Helen Sweeney Horan, 83, died March 25, 2008 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester, April 4, 1924, to John H. and Ellen (Anderson) Sweeney. She spent her early years in Goffstown and graduated from Goffstown High School in 1942. Mrs. Horan worked in the office of J.F.McElwain Co. for 20 years and retired in 1983. She enjoyed gardening and yard work and her family. She was the widow of John W. Horan, who died Oct. 27, 2003. She was also predeceased by a son, Stephen J. Horan, in 1993. Family includes sons David A. Horan and Thomas F. Horan of Manchester; daughters Linda Horan of Charlestown, Mass., Patricia Miller of Ormond Beach, Fla., Mary Melnick of Newton, Mass., and Susan Miller of Manchester; two grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech Street. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday at noon in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
