HELEN RUTH MITCHELL ITHACA - Helen Ruth Mitchell, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend, was born in New Milford, Connecticut on December 27, 1934 and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the age of 74. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Edward; and her five children and their spouses, Edward (Shonn), Guy, Greg (Debra), Joann (Donna), and James (Deborah); as well as by her son at heart, Scott (Dianna) Bennett. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (Richard) Pflomm; her ten grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Matthew, Jonathan, Philip, Cara, Jessica, Joshua, Trevor and Dominic; and her great-grandchild, Jasmine Nicole. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation in Memory of Helen Mitchell.
