Helen Miller, née en 1932, conjointe de Jack Miller, mère de Candyce et Gregory, est décédée le 7 janvier 2005 à l'âge de 73 ans.
MILLER, Helen "Dee" Wife, love and centre of the world for more than 55 years to journalist Jack Miller, succumbed at age 73 to cancer on Friday, January 7, 2005 in the palliative care unit of St. Catharines General Hospital after a five month battle against the condition at Toronto's Princess Margaret Hospital. Helen was a quiet girl with a Mona Lisa smile and a genius IQ who mingled and made friends as easily with national leaders and international screen stars as with regular folk. She was a key to much of her husband's success by repeatedly charming his interview subjects, both celebrities and intellectuals (occasionally the same person), so they spoke more openly with him. On her own, she was an artist, a fashion designer, a gourmet chef, and amazing at grasping and offering help with the problems of both friends and strangers. Soon after meeting her, people would be pouring out their hearts to her and none ever regretted it. Predeceased by both her children, daughter Candyce and son Gregory, she is survived by her loving husband. Special thanks go to the staff at Princess Margaret for trying, and the staff at St. Catharines General for their great tenderness at the end. Visitation will be at the Patrick Darte Funeral Chapel at 39 Court Street in St. Catharines Wednesday and Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., with funeral mass to follow on Friday January 14, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria at 67 Church Street in St. Catharines. Vigil prayers Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.
