Helen Milam Ballard, age 91, of 801 Musgrove St. , formerly of 404 W. Maple St., and widow of B.B. Ballard, a former Police Chief, died April 1, 2003, at Presbyterian Home. She was born in Clinton and was the daughter of the late Will and Mary Young Milam. Mrs. Ballard was a graduate of Winthrop College, was a school teacher for 41 years and was an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, William B. (Billy) Ballard, of Clinton; a brother, James W. (Mike) Milam, of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Margorie Milam, of Charlotte; and a niece, Kathy Milam, of Greensboro, N.C. She was predeceased by a sister, Kate Milam. The family received friends Wednesday at the home of her son: Billy Ballard, 101 Holly St., Clinton. Private graveside services will be held today, April 3, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends in the atrium of Cunningham Center, at the Church, after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presbyterian Home, 801 Musgrove St., Clinton, SC 29325; and Broad Street United Methodist Church, 310 N. Broad St., Clinton, SC 29325. Gray Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge.
