McDONALD, Helen Mrs. Helen Claire McDonald, (nee Rees) of Millarville, formerly of Edmonton, passed away at the Oilfields Hospital, Black Diamond, on July 14, 2003 at the age of 72 years. Helen was born and raised in Saskatoon, Sask. Helen attended the U of S, and UBC before embarking on a career of social work, where she met her husband of 48 years, Merril. Helen earned her education degree at the U of A, followed by many years of teaching with the Edmonton Public School system. Helen's great loves were her painting, horses and the great outdoors which drew the couple to the Millarville area in 1987. Helen will be deeply missed by her husband Merril, their three children and seven grandchildren: Mary Jane Garden (Kristoffer and Devon), John Rees (Brenda) McDonald (Kaitlin and Trenton), Robert Grant (Brenda) McDonald (Allison, Brian and Bradley). Helen is also survived by her sister Jane (Ron) Collie of Calgary; nieces, nephews and many close friends. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd., Okotoks, on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. A second memorial service will be held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Chapel, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton, on Monday, July 28, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at a later date.
