MacKENZIE, Helen Margaret (nee Rollo)March 7, 1910 - Port Arthur, ON August 7, 2013 - Calgary, ABHelen MacKenzie, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the age of 103 years. Helen was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on March 7, 1910. She grew up there and in Winnipeg where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She spent many wonderful summers with her family at Grand Beach. Helen worked as a comptometer operator for the CNR. She met Kay there and they were married in 1942. Together they lived in Minaki, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina and Katepwa. Helen volunteered in the Regina community with Sacred Heart Academy Auxiliary, the Lady Patronesses of the Grey Nuns Hospital, and the CWL of the parishes of Holy Rosary, Christ the King and St. Ann. Helen moved to Calgary in 2004. Helen is survived by her daughter Maureen Sarahs (David); grandchildren Greg Sarahs (Natalie), great- granddaughter Lily; Douglas and Alan Conway, Barbara Packard and their families; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of thirty-two years Kay; brothers Richard and Henry Rollo; sister Gertrude Coyle; stepdaughter Joan Conway and their spouses. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends wish in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the Sisters of the Precious Blood, 2210 25 Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 4E6 or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at Intercare at Millrise for Helen's care over the last five years, as well as the staff at Millrise Place for the previous three years. In living memory of Helen MacKenzie, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
