Short, Helen M. MAYFIELD Helen M. Short, 86, of Mayfield passed away Monday afternoon, October 22, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Born in Elba, N.Y. on June 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Frances Wiedrich Miller. Helen was raised and educated in Albany and lived in Mayfield for over 30 years. She was employed with South Colonie School District as an account clerk for many years. Helen also co-owned and operated Short Upholstery in Colonie with her late husband. Mrs. Short cherished her home and her loving family, and always welcomed the presence of music in each day. Married on June 30, 1945, Mrs. Short is predeceased by her husband, LeRoy A. "Chick" Short, who passed August 17, 2007 after 62 years of marriage. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by her brother, Roy Miller. Helen is survived by a son, Steven (Carol) Short of Cicero, N.Y.; a daughter, Linda Short of Pittsfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, Melissa (Glenn) Baker, Carrie (Ernie) Taylor, Kenneth (Laura) Lipoufski, Jason (Marcia) Short, and James Lipoufski; five great-grandchildren, Richard Taylor, Samantha Short, Derek Taylor, Jaylynn Short and Kayden Lipoufski; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 p.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady followed by interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
