PELHAM -- Helen M. Morris, one of Pelham's oldest citizens, died Sunday, March 19, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry at the age of 100.She was born in Pelham on Sept. 20, 1905, the daughter of the late Edwin and Louisa (Bannister) Morris. She was the oldest living member of the First Congregational Church in Pelham. She attended Pelham schools and graduated from Lowell High School.Before retiring, Miss Morris was a sales clerk for Pelham Pharmacy. Previously, she worked at H.E. Harris Stamp Company, and as a spinner at Beaver Brook Mills.Active in civic affairs for the town for many years, she was a school district treasurer and a ballot clerk. An 86-year charter member of the Hillsboro Pomona Grange, she was also a charter member of the Senior Citizens.Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed knitting and sewing.She is survived by a granddaughter and her husband, Melanie and Richard M. Taylor of Londonderry; three grandsons, A. Richard Hanlon of Londonderry, Kevin M. Hanlon of Londonderry and Brian E. Hanlon of Hudson, N.H.; seven great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law and his wife, Arthur R. and Barbara Hanlon of Londonderry.Miss Morris was also the mother of Claire L. (Morris) Hanlon, who died Sept. 15, 1985, and the sister of the late Ethel Chalifoux and Chester "Chet" Morris.
