Helen M. Millerof the Town of MaineHelen M. Miller, 82, died at her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2003. She was born on April 7, 1921, daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Hardman) Torrey. Survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald P. Miller; eight children, Kathleen M. Smith, Richmond, Va., Ann E. and Terry Ulion, Glenmont, N.Y., James P. and Suzanne Miller, Binghamton, Joseph P. Miller, Johnson City, Theresa M. and Albert Batten, Manlius, N.Y., Christopher R. and Christine Miller, Binghamton, Thomas W. and Michelle Miller, Binghamton, Richard J. Miller and fiancee Leila Fewel, Upper Saddle River, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several cousins, including Scott and Maria Marshall, Endwell. Mrs. Miller was a founding member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She attended Binghamton schools and Syracuse University. An avid fan of the New York Yankees and Syracuse University basketball, she also enjoyed tennis, crossword puzzles, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very much loved by all her family and will be greatly missed.A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the McDevitt Bros. Funeral Home, 88-90 Front Street, Binghamton, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions in Helen Miller's name may be made to the Hospice of Lourdes Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
