Jennings, Helen M. ALBANY Helen M. Jennings, 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 8, 2013. A lifelong resident of Albany, she is predeceased by her husband, James A. Jennings, and her brother, William Toole. She is survived by her three children, James (Lyn Hiestand), Brian (Lisa) and Lynda Schuyler (Phil). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her sister, Marion Tatro. Helen was born in Albany in 1918. She is a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. For many years she worked at the Mildred Elley School and later at the New York State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, from which she retired in 1980. A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Helen took great joy in caring for those she loved. In her retirement Helen enjoyed volunteering at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul food pantry. Helen loved chocolate in all forms: kiss, truffle, M&M, and mint. A soft-spoken woman, Helen had the ability to quiet a room or calm a rambunctious child with nothing more than a glance. Always a book at her side, Helen enjoyed reading great stories as much as she loved to tell them. She had the kindest of souls and will be missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend and call at the Magin & Keegan Funeral Home, located at 891 Madison Ave., on Monday morning between 10 and 11 a.m. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Teresian House who cared for her with great care and diligence over the past three years. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Food Pantry at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul at 900 Madison Ave.
