January 1, 2008 Helen M. Friend, 85, of 8614 Lakeport Rd., Chittenango, died Tuesday at the Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango. Born in Perryville, Mrs. Friend was a longtime resident of Cazenovia moving to Chittenango nine years ago. She was em-ployed at Thermold in Manlius for 14 years retiring in 1986. Mrs. Friend was a member of the Kirkville Community Wesleyan Church. She was also a member of the Oneida Moose and the Canastota Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis in 1978. Surviving are three sons, Roger (Judith) Friend of Columbus, Ohio, Robert (Mary) Friend of Cazenovia and Donald Friend of Chittenango; two daughters, Phyllis (James) Shaw of Davenport, FL and Sheila Bartlett of Gurnee, FL; a sister, June Jones of Cocoa Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday at G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia.
